Bureau Veritas’ appearance at AchemAsia promotes the development of chemical industry through innovation
From May 21 to May 23, AchemAsia 2019 and the 11th International Advanced Chemical Manufacturing Exposition were held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai, China, which welcomed 328 exhibitors of chemical and pharmaceutical industries in the world. In an interview with reporters, Mr. Serge TEULINGS, Business Development Director of Oil & Gas Downstream - Global Service Line of Bureau Veritas, introduced the latest UAVs and smart glasses used to inspect the site to help customers understand the production line and ensure safety. He also showed Bureau Veritas' full-process supply chain services in the petrochemical industry, such as providing quality, health, safety and environmental protection-related third-party professional services from the design, construction to the operation phase of chemical plants.
In an interview with Mr. Wei Yungang, Vice President and General Manager of Oil, Gas and Chemical in Greater China, Bureau Veritas, he pointed out that China has become the most important market of the company. Bureau Veritas focuses on the development of digital applications and promotes the upgrading of safety and environmental protection of petrochemical enterprises. Moreover, Bureau Veritas is increasingly focusing on serving operating assets (OPEX) and paying full attention to energy sustainable development in the process of China's high-quality development.
At the 7th International Petrochemical Engineering Forum in 2019, Mr. Serge TEULINGS delivered a keynote speech on "Trends of Modular Construction of Large Petrochemical Projects and Their Quality and Safety Management". For the global giants of petrochemical industry, modular construction has become the choice to achieve low cost and high efficiency. China is the leading country in modular construction, with more than 35 projects. Bureau Veritas provides QA/QC services for modular construction projects including Yamal LNG, Wanhua American Polyurethane, ExxonMobil Polyethylene to maximize cost savings, improve efficiency and safety.
In view of the frequent safety accidents in chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises in recent years, safety compliance in process industry has attracted wide attention. Mr. Yang Minwen, Functional Safety Manager of Oil, Gas and Chemical Technology Center of Bureau Veritas, delivered a keynote speech on "System Safety Diagnosis of Petrochemical Enterprises' in-service Facilities". By means of safety analysis methods such as hazard identification analysis (HAZID), hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP), instrument safety integrity level assessment (SIL), fire and explosion quantitative risk assessment (FEA/QRA), Bureau Veritas makes targeted diagnosis and analysis on process control safety, equipment’s in-service status and HSE management capability to identify and ensure the safety risk control and compliance of projects, enterprises and factories.
